So far I have converted my VSDC project to AVI and MPG and neither will play in my Xbox or DVD recorder/player! However, I still can not get the DVD to work in my Xbox or my DVD recorder/player. I have finally found the button to convert to mpeg2 and I converted another project in VSDC using the mpeg2 format (But I don't understand why the finished project was labeled "MPG VIDEO FILE" instead of mpeg2?). When I burned it to a DVD it played okay on my PC but when I tried it in my (older) XBOX or a newer DVD recorder/player it would not work. I checked the VSDC software and I could not find anything that said it would convert to mpeg-2 so I tried the "DVD" choice and it converted the project to a "AVI" video. There is a MPEG that is listed-is that the same as a mpeg-2? Thanks for the reply-So I need to convert my project (in VSDC video editing software) to a mpeg-2 is that correct? I have attached a "supported formats & codecs" sheet for VSDC software, but I don't see mpeg-2 on the list.

Perhaps you did, but that will not create a DVD that will play on all players. I thought that I set them to convert to MP4 but I will check again. In general, mpeg-2 uses a much higher bitrate, that may explain the size increase. The video is converted to mpeg-2, that's the DVD standard. To create a DVD disk that will work in all DVD players,
